Our meeting point at Boreham Wood

Hertfordshire-based Chester Exile Rick Goby has written the following travel and pub advice for those heading to Boreham Wood on Saturday (November 14).

For travel by public transport, use Elstree & Borehamwood Station which is a mile from the ground, Meadow Park, reached via the main shopping street Shenley Road.

The Alfred Arms: This new pub was launched five months ago and is our Exiles’ meeting pub. It has Thai food, real ales, TVs, interesting décor and is rather plush. Bear left from the station drive-in and turn an immediate right at Divan Restaurant on the near corner and Sainsbury’s Local on the far corner into Shenley Road. Just 30 seconds walk on the right hand side is The Alfred Arms. Further down on the same side is the Golden Plaice fish shop, which is not bad at all.

For those looking to park near the pub, Behind the Sainsbury’s Local, there is a very large car park which serves a complex of large retail outlets. There are a limited amount of parking opportunities in the Brook Road area, but these are probably taken up by 2pm.

The Hart & Spool: This is a small Wetherspoon’s with a relatively new manager. Some may also call in here on the way to/from the ground. It’s further down still on the same side of Shenley Road from The Golden Plaice.

To reach Meadow Park, cross Shenley Road from The Hart & Spool and continue further on the left had side towards the Studio Roundabout. Keeping left on this roundabout, pass Eldon Road and the National Westminster building with works and refurbishment to the extension beyond it. Then ease round left into Brook Road. The ground is a short way down on the right hand side, beyond a school and a bowling club car park. The nearest approach after this is the Away Supporters' entrance.
