Que Sera, Sera

Early kick offs are a double-edged sword for us south-based Exiles.

The agony of an early start and the possibility of scraping ice off the car windscreen, but home in time for Match of the Day.

Our pre-match meeting pub for the Barnet match on Saturday December 20 will be JJ Moons (Wetherspoons), near Queensbury tube, at 553 Kingsbury Road, London, NW9 9EL.

Up for the Cup

The magic of the FA Cup is its unpredictability. It's nerve-wracking, can take you to unexpected places but ultimately ends in frustration and heart-break. Just like Britain's motorway network.

Exiles Meet Club Officials

Nearly 30 Exiles had the chance to put their questions to four key Chester FC staff at a special evening in London's Rugby Tavern pub on Friday (October 10).

The Exiles' committee were delighted when manager Steve Burr, chairman Tony Durkin, commercial manager Tracey Wainwright and financial controller Laurence Kirby came to meet Chester fans on the eve of the match at Dover.

BBC journalist and Chester fan Phil Parry hosted a memorable evening, which we were only sorry didn't precede a victory for the Blues after their longest away trip of the season.

Sunday 14 September 2014

Exiles to meet Steve Burr

Chairman, Tony Durkin and Manager, Steve Burr have kindly accepted an invitation from the Exiles to meet with their members on Friday evening, 10th October prior to the away fixture with Dover Athletic on the Saturday.

Kidderminster meeting pubs

There are two great pubs lined up for the Exiles to meet in at Kidderminster on Monday (August 25). So whatever the result, it'll be a great day out. Let's hope SB fires up the team for his return to his old stomping ground!

We encourage as many members to come along if you live or work close by (with apologies for Exiles elsewhere in the UK and world!).  We will keep the official business to a minimum and then carry on with a social and discuss how we as Exiles can support the Club in the coming season. New ideas very welcome!

As a taster, we are in discussion with Chairman, Tony Durkin, who is arranging for Steve Burr to join us in a 'Meet the Manager' one evening before one of the southern fixtures. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

We also welcome new members who want to join CFU which automatically makes you an Exile if you live 25 miles outside of Chester. Please come along and join us.

Braintree (A) will be our first meeting place match of the season on Saturday, 16th August. We need to erase the memory of last season!

Where Did It All Go Wrong

Football has been kicking me in the nuts for years but I can't remember anything more painful than the last few minutes on Saturday.

Saturday 19 April 2014

Cambridge meeting pub

Can the Blues sneak a vital win, or at least get a point at Cambridge United, on Easter Monday?

The Kingston Arms, at 33 Kingston Street (CB1 2NU), is en route from the station to the ground in Newmarket Road (CB5 8LN), is our meeting point.

Just a warning that, as it's Bank Holiday, we are expecting it to be busy.

Blues on the march

If you are planning to attend the home match against Hyde on Saturday, 5th April why not join in the sponsored march which starts at 11.00am?

If you are unable to take part, why not sponsor our Chairman, Tony Durkin who as many know has had relapse of an illness and has been away from the Club for a while. He is making a good recovery and plans to take part in the 5k walk. He contacted the Exiles over the weekend and would really appreciate any sponsorship from Exiles who may not be able to take part.

Details of the walk and sponsorship forms can be found here: http://www.chesterfc.com/news/article/on-the-march-1412842.aspx.

Wrexham tickets

The club have put aside 50 tickets for the forthcoming Wrexham game on one side for CFU Exiles members. If you are a CFU Exile (ie you are a member of CFU and live outside of a Chester or North Wales postcode area), then contact the club about making a postal application for a ticket.

They are allocating those Exiles tickets to members on a first-come-first-served basis. For more details ring the club on 01244-371376. You will need to get your application off ASAP as they go on general sale after the Hyde game on Saturday (April 5).

Remember the Wrexham game kicks off at 12 noon on Saturday April 19.

Luton meeting place and ground details

The Exiles meeting place for the game against Luton is the Old English Rose, 46 Old Bedford Road (LU2 7PA).

Staying Up, Staying Up, Staying Up?

I'm starting to feel spoiled, because Saturday's trip to Luton is the third in a run of four consecutive away games in the south.

Monday 10 March 2014

Meeting Pub for Aldershot

Chester play Aldershot on Tuesday (7.45pm KO) in another vital game. The Exiles will be meeting up before the game in the Crimea Inn, which is just off the High Street in Crimea Road. It's near the station, and very close to the ground.

The pub's postcode is GU11 1UE. For those driving, it does have a car park, and there's also a pay & display car park nearby. The postcode for the Recreation Ground is GU11 1TW.

Hope to see a large number of Chester fans there - and all in good voice!

Thursday 6 March 2014

Lincoln City Meeting Place And Ticket Details

The Exiles meeting place for Saturday's game against Lincoln City is the Ritz.

Monday 3 February 2014

Aldershot Town Directions and Meeting Place

The Exiles will be hoping for better things than their last visit to Aldershot, which saw the old Chester City relegated. We're in happier times, with a much brighter future, so if you can make the trip to Aldershot on Saturday February 8, why not join us for a pre-match chat?

We'll be meeting in the same pub as our last trip (don't let this put you off though!). It's the White Lion at 20 Lower Farnham Rd, Aldershot, GU12 4EA.
(http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/18/18523/White_Lion/Aldershot). We'll be there from 1pm. Please note that the social club at the Recreation Ground is for home fans only.

The Aldershot ground itself is in the High Street, the postcode for those driving there with satnavs is GU11 1TW. There's little parking at the ground, so best to look for a pay & display car park. For those going by train, Aldershot station is less than a 10 minute walk from the ground. Go down the station approach and turn right into Windsor Way. Continue down Windsor Way passing the Holy Trinity Church on your left. The road bends to the left and leads into Victoria Road. Turn right along Victoria Road and at the bottom of the road you will see the ground in front of you.

Rewind a few years and Chester away wins were collectors' items.

Cup Success for Darts Duo

It was a great night at Monday night's annual APFSCIL Darts Pairs Competition with Chester Exiles' Matt Maguire and Simon Pilsbury winning it, going one better than beaten finalists last year!
